God’s Invaluable Gift of Love

God’s Invaluable Gift of Love (John 3:14-17)

For many persons, Christmas is a season of giving and receiving gifts. The gifts we receive from our family, friends and employers may be a reflection of the relationship or an appreciation of what we mean to them. The value of the gift is usually determined by the giver not the recipient. Invariably, how we esteem the gift is an indication of the value we place on or whether we appreciate it. Christmas is about acceptance of God’s invaluable gift of love – Jesus Christ. Jesus is God’s most invaluable gift to all of humanity.

In Scripture, there is one passage which reveals the invaluable gift of God’s love. This passage is not directly part of the narrative of Jesus’ birth. However, this passage bears all evidence of the invaluable gift of love to humanity. The passage is John 3: 14-17. The Scripture states: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (NKJV)

There are three Biblical and timeless truths about the invaluable gift of love – Jesus Christ. The three truths are: (1) Jesus is the invaluable gift of love; (2) God gave His only Son as the invaluable gift of love and (3) God gave the invaluable gift of love for the salvation of the world.

On behalf of Sis. Jacqueline, my wife and our family, I wish you and your family a peaceful, joyous and blessed Christmas. May you take the time to reflect on God’s invaluable gift of love towards us – Jesus Christ!

Rev. Dr. Pastor Frank W. Douglas. D. Min.
