Statement on recent incidence of COVID-19

UPDATE as of Friday October 2, 2020 on recent incident of COVID-19

Earlier this week, West End Worship Centre made a statement regarding one member of the church who tested positive for COVID-19 and was in attendance for the in-person gathering on Sunday September 27, 2020.

Since then, the Pastoral team has been in contact with the individual and they are currently at home in isolation while recovering. Those who were in close proximity to the individual on Sunday, before they were aware they tested positive, were made aware of the news within 24 hours, and instructed to take precautionary measures by self-monitoring until Public Health contacted West End Worship Centre.

Those who saw fit to voluntarily get themselves tested for COVID-19 as a precautionary measure are in isolation waiting for results. Out of the five individuals who went to get tested, two have already received their results as negative.

A case worker from Public Health has been in correspondence with the individual with the positive test and we are told that no one at West End Worship Centre is at high risk as a result of proper physical distancing.

We currently await a possible phone call or email from Public Health Toronto. In the meantime, our sanctuary has been sanitized and we will have a livestream-only service with no members this Sunday October 4, 2020 as an additional precautionary measure.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. We are believing for God’s protection on us.

STATEMENT ON RECENT INCIDENCE OF COVID-19

West End Worship Centre has been made aware of a positive test for COVID-19 from a member of our congregation who attended the in-person gathering service on Sunday, September 27, 2020.

The individual notified the Pastoral team on the evening of September 27 after they tested positive for COVID-19. The Pastoral team has been in contact with the individual and we are in prayer for a speedy recovery.

A few other members who were in close contact with the individual have followed procedures and have recently been tested and are awaiting results while in self-isolation.

West End Worship Centre has followed the guidelines provided by City of Toronto Public Health for places of worship since our first in-person gathering service in August, and has continued to take necessary precautions and protocols to ensure a safe worship environment.

At this time we are awaiting word from Public Health Toronto as to what our next steps should be, and will work with them as we follow their recommended procedures and guidelines.

Due to this incident, we have made the decision to suspend our in-person gathering scheduled for Sunday October 4, 2020. The service will be a livestream only with no members in attendance. It will be available on our YouTube channel at 11:00 AM.

We are grateful that God is in control and we will continue to trust Him and use wisdom in our decision-making. Until then, we look forward to when we will be able to gather in-person with our church family once again in the near future.

We continue to pray for all the lives effected by this virus and we continue to trust God for the healing of our land.
